The wedding of Jamie & Sarah Dando

Laurence James Photography recently captured the wedding of Jamie and Sarah Dando at Orsett Hall. We'd really been looking forward to their wedding, not only because they are a great couple, but because we had never worked at Orsett Hall before and had heard so many good things about it.

Orsett Hall is a fantastic wedding venue. The grounds are beautiful and there are plenty of different areas for guests to mingle and relax - and for us to take photos! Everything that you would need on your wedding day is available on site, from hair & beauty salons to spa & treatment rooms and even a florist! From the moment we drove down the long sweeping driveway, past a magnificent water fountain, we knew it was going to be a good day and couldn't wait to get started.

Whilst Sarah and her Bridesmaids were being pampered downstairs, Jamie and the boys were upstairs getting ready and looking after young Millie. The morning seemed to fly by and it wasn't too long before the ceremony was due to start. However, the boys still managed to find some time to play on the swings!

 Jamie and Sarah were very organised and had prepared a list of photo's they wanted us to take. Luckily for them, the Best Man and Ushers did a great job of organisng people so we were able to work our way through the list fairly quickly and then capture the day in reportage.

Before we knew it, the evening had arrived and it was time for the happy couple to take to the dancefloor for their first dance. Little did we know that Jamie and Sarah had been putting in a lot of practice and performed a set dance routine that was like something from a John Travolta movie!

The wedding of Martin and Gemma

The first time we met Martin and Gemma we knew that photographing their wedding day was going to be challenging, relaxed but definitely lots of fun!

The 'challenging' part was making full use of the two beautiful Chelmsford locations they had chosen, the ceromony held at St Andrews Church in Boreham and then the reception held in Boreham House. There was also the threat of rain on the day but despite the odd shower in the morning, it turned out to be perfect!

The 'relaxed' and 'lots of fun' part was definitely down to Martin and Gemma! There is something about them that makes you instantly like them and you feel like you have known them for years. Martin is very chilled out and was happy to go with the flow. Gemma on the other hand is full of energy and is always up for a good laugh.

The wedding of Lauren and Ben

Capturing Lauren and Ben's wedding day was lots of fun! It was also one of the hottest days this year!

Hylands House in Chelmsford was the setting for this beautiful day and Laurence James Photography were there to capture the events as they unfolded.

 

Lauren looked stunning and her smile was beaming with excitement as she arrived and walked down the isle. Ben on the other hand was cool, calm and collective and was determined to have a great day.

Ben and Lauren make a fantastic couple and the emotion, excitement, fun and love on that day certainly made for great photos.

The wedding of Kirsty and Jamie

Kirsty and Jamie's wedding was a great success! The weather was kind and the day seemed to run like clockwork. It was fun shooting a wedding where everybody was so friendly and relaxed, it certainly made us feel very welcome.

We met the happy couple in the morning as they were preparing for their special day. Surprisingly, it felt very calm and there were no signs of stress - as you might expect on one of the biggest days of your life!

 
St Mary's Church in Gt Baddow was a lovely venue for the ceremony. Kirsty looked stunning as she made her entrance and her Father gleamed with pride as he walked her down the aisle.

We're not sure how many people noticed the bottom of Jamie's shoes as he knelt with Kirsty before the Vicar, but it certainly caught our eye and it was a shot we couldn't afford to miss.

After the ceremony the wedding party moved on to the Ivy Hill Hotel. It was here that we captured the rest of the days' events, from walking in the grounds with the newly wed couple, photographing laughter, emotions and happiness during the speeches and capturing their first dance and the cutting of the cake.

Jamie and Kirsty - Pre wedding shoot.

Jamie and Kirsty are getting married on Saturday 31st March 2012 at St Marys Church in Gt Baddow. We are really pleased that they have chosen Laurence James Photography to capture their wedding day.
We caught up with them for a pre-wedding shoot and the opportunity to get to know them a bit better.

We met at St Mary's church for a few photos and talked about the wedding day. After that we went to the Ivy Hill Hotel, the venue for their reception.

We had a great afternoon finding out more about their special day and exploring the grounds. They're a great couple and quickly relaxed to Stuart and I photographing them.

Despite the fallen snow and the cold breeze the sun was shining. We are sure the weather will be perfect on their wedding day and we can't wait to take lots of stunning shots and capture the whole event for them to remember.

The wedding of Neil & Mindy Scotcher

The wedding of Neil & Mindy Scotcher was always going to be special, but getting married on New Years Eve 2011 definitely made it one to remember!

For those that don’t know, Mindy is best friend to my sister Liane who was Matron of Honor on the day. I have known Mindy (or Cindy as I like to call her) for many years. For this reason it was a true privilege and honour to be part of her special day and to photograph it for her and Neil really meant a lot to me. Thank you.

Neil and Mindy decided to get married at Chanels Golf Club and yet again it proved to be a great wedding venue. Chanels has lots of character and excellent surroundings, providing ideal wedding photography locations. To top it off, the food was really nice and the staff were also very friendly and accommodating.

I met with Mindy and the Bridesmaids at her house to do some shots before the wedding. I must say, Mindy was a surprisingly calm Bride and didn’t mind me and my camera following her around. Then the cars arrived… At that point the nerves kicked in and Mindy was in panic mode. Luckily, little Jess was on hand to re-assure her Mum that she looked beautiful and that today was going to be the best day of her life.

The ceremony had a relaxed feel to it which was quite different to other weddings we have captured. Perhaps Neil fluffing his lines had something to do with that… Then of course there was the naming ceremony for Tommy who looked super smart in his pageboy’s suit.

When we met with the happy couple weeks before the wedding we had to acknowledge that, given the time of year, on the day there could be rain or snow. However, this wasn’t an issue! Although there was a chill in the air the weather was perfect, we even had a little bit of sunshine come out just before we finished the group photos.

 

The day unfolded into the night and soon the evening guests started to arrive. Once the disco had started the dance floor was constantly packed with people strutting their stuff right up until the newly wed’s took centre stage for their first dance. The night was full of energy and everyone was having a great time. Then before we knew it, the countdown to the new year was started and we all knew that the party would soon be coming to an end.

All in all it was a great day and an awesome way to see in the New Year. It will certainly be one to remember. Thanks again to Mindy, Neil, Jess and Tommy for such a wonderful day.

We wish the new Mr and Mrs Scotcher the best of luck for the future.

Donna and Jason -9th July 2011

Laurence James Photography photographed Donna and Jason's wedding day and had a great time whilst capturing the event, from the bride and groom's preparations to the cutting of the cake.
We were both impressed by the relaxed, friendly attitude of the couple and all the guests were good fun and easy to photograph.
The weather was kind to us as well,with the rain falling while everyone was inside and the sun shining at the right times.
This was our first wedding at Regiment Way Golf Club and we thought that the venue was great and the staff very helpful and we look forward to working there again soon.
Finally, we would like to wish Donna and Jason all the best for their future together and thank them for using us to capture their special day.

New price packages for 2012!

Laurence James Photography have released five new wedding price packages for 2012.

We revised our price plans to make them easier to understand and we are certain that there is a price package that will suit everyone - whatever your budget!

We realised that some couples don't want to be tied into a package that forces them to buy an album. We believe that with the growing use of social media technology and web based print services, people would rather get creative with a high resolution copyright free CD/DVD of all their wedding photos, than own an album.

Of course! We offer a variety of albums as well and we are happy to add them to any of our packages. Just ask!

We still have some dates free for 2011, so if you are getting married this year and still haven't booked a wedding photographer, don't worry, get in touch. You could qualify for a late booking and save up to 20%.

Laurence James Photography have opened a You Tube account so that we can showcase our portfolio using audio visual. Where possible, we will also bring you real life examples of our wedding DVD slideshows.

Laurence James Photography would like to announce that new wedding photos have been added to the online Gallery. I'll add a link to them at the end of this blog.

It is also an opportunity for us to let you know that we will be making some changes to the website where we hope to bring more pictures to our gallery section and arrange them by category. We will also be updating our wedding package price page to provide a variety of pricing options to suit all budgets.

The Spencer's wedding photos uploaded!

This blog post is actually pretty late as the photos have been in our Client albums section for well over a week. Unfortunately, I moved my PC into another room whilst I was decorating before I had a chance to write this update.

Anyway, the good news is that all 335 images have been uploaded ready for you to view online. You should contact Joe or Natalie if you have lost or forgotten the password.

Joe and Natalie have all high resolution images (and more) on a DVD. If you see one or two that you like I'm sure you'll be able to get a copy if you speak with them.

The wedding of Mr & Mrs Spencer

Laurence James Photography had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Joe & Natalie Spencer at Vaulty Manor on Saturday 22nd January 2011.

You could tell that a lot of planning had gone into the day and it appeared to run like clockwork. There was always something going on and the guests were well entertained, especially during the speeches!

Joe is a fireman and it was a nice touch to see his 'watch' arrive in their fire engine (sirens ringing) and then form an arch with their silver axes for the happy couple to walk through.

Later in the day there was a swing singer who belted out classics and got everybody singing and dancing. After the cutting of the cake two professional dancers took to the dancefloor to perform some vey energetic routines.

It was a privilege to be part of the wedding and everybody made us feel very welcome. We will display our pictures of Joe and Natalie's day here on our website, in the Client albums section.

It's late but I have been determined to get Mark and Emilyjane's wedding photo's online for everyone to view in the morning. A few of you have emailed asking when they will be ready and your email notification will be sent after this blog.

Emily and Mark popped round on Wednesday and saw the photo's for the first time. They stayed until the end of the show and didn't ask for any to be removed - that's always a good sign but maybe it had something to do with the beer and gin we gave them... not in the same glass!!

So anyway, the photo's are available for you to view. If you have forgotten the password simply drop us a line and we will get you connected.

 Well what can I say !!

Stuart and myself had a great day photographing the preparations, the wedding and the reception party and as Stuart has said we were made to feel very welcome. I think that our photographs will show that we were very much on the inside of the party where all the best shots can be taken !!

On Saturday 24th July 2010 Laurence James Photography captured the wedding of Mark & Emilyjane Peter's. The wedding ceremony was held at St Mary's church in Broomfield, Chelmsford and the reception took place in a beautiful marquee back at the Peter's residence.

The weather was fantastic and everyone enjoyed the food, drink and entertainment well into the early hours. I'm sure there will be a few sore heads today!

Welcome to Laurence James Photography

Welcome to the Laurence James Photography website.

This is the first blog of many and its purpose is to tell you a bit about us, what we do, where we are going and where we have been!

Laurence James photography was an idea that was born in January 2010. We are two very good friends with a passion for photography that have decided to take our hobby one step further. We have studied photography for almost five years and have both been members of the Chelmlsford Camera Club and hold a City and Guilds certificate in Image Capture and Digital Manipulation.

In 2009 we were asked to photograph a friends wedding. The positive feedback and subsequent requests to capture other weddings and occasions has been phenomenal. So many people have said to us that we should start our own photography business, so we have!

We didn't rush to start Laurence James Photography, in fact we thought about it for months, we have both been quite content fitting in the odd wedding and portrait shoot in between our full time jobs. There was a risk that our passion could soon become a chore but in fact it has been quite the opposite. The more weddings and portraits we do the more we want. It's got to the point where we want to do it all day every day, so this is where we are.

We're very realistic that Laurence James Photography will not become a success overnight and for that reason we won't give up our day jobs just yet. However, we do believe that with our passion and enthusiasim and our ability to capture great moments we will exceed customer expectation and it won't be long before we start thinking about it...
